Y'all fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and regardless of how #basic it may be I LOVE all things pumpkin spice. I recently found out that a major coffee shop (you know who I'm talking about) has dairy in their pumpkin spice recipe. Since I have a dairy allergy I was forced to eliminate their pumpkin spice latte from my fall routine. Not to fear, it was good for my wallet and forced me to come up with an at-home alternative recipe that is just as tasty! After much testing I am excited to share my dairy-free pumpkin spice coffee recipe!
I recently got the new Mr. Coffee® Easy Measure 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker and let me tell you that they did a GREAT job with their updated look. I love the sleek black and chrome look and how they have color-coded the measuring system to keep it simple to make great coffee, so you can get on with life.
It also has an illuminated freshness reminder that displays how much time has passed since brewing began and advanced water filtration with multi-stage filtration reduces impurities for better taste. The pause and serve lets you pour a cup of coffee before brewing is finished and 4-Hour shut off automatically turns off the coffeemaker when you inevitably forget and rush out the door!
While my coffee is brewing in my Mr. Coffee® Easy Measure coffee maker I use that time to make my homemade pumpkin spice sauce. Start by adding 1 tablespoon of plain pumpkin puree into a sealable glass jar, bonus I love these easy to use lids.
Next, add one tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice.
Then, add 1/3 cup of your favorite dairy-free milk substitute. I used unsweetened almond milk. If you would prefer to make your own organic almond milk, here is my recipe.
Next, place the lid on the jar and shake vigorously.
Once it is all mixed together, pour 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of your coffee cup.
Then add a little bit of sugar if you like it similar to the one you can buy at the coffee shop. I added 2 teaspoons.
Now it's time to add some coffee and the remainder of the pumpkin spice sauce.
Give everything a good stir and top with your favorite dairy-free whipped cream!
For the finishing touch, sprinkle a little bit of the pumpkin pie spice on top and enjoy!
