One of my favorite hot beverages is an Earl Grey Tea Latte also known as a London Fog. It is a simple drink but is perfect on a cold, rainy day or really anytime. A London Fog is traditionally made with milk, but since I have a dairy allergy I have adapted the recipe and am sharing my favorite version of vegan London fog!
Start out by brewing your Earl Grey Tea according to the package directions in 3/4 cup of water. You can use any Earl Grey tea, but I really like this one or this one.

After the tea is finished steeping, remove the teabag.
Next, it is time to add 1 tablespoon of vanilla syrup. You can add more depending on your taste preference. I buy several Starbucks flavored syrups in the one-liter bottles and keep them next to my coffee station with the pumps to make it easy. You can buy the pumps in a pack of 3.
After you add the vanilla syrup. Heat and froth 1/4 cup of dairy-free milk. I like this recipe with almond milk. You can find the exact milk frother I use here, I like this one because it heats and froths simultaneously and it is always the perfect amount of latte foam. This frother does not heat the milk but froths beautifully and is more budget-friendly.
After the almond milk is frothed, add it to the tea. Latte art is optional 🙂
You can add lavender as a garnish to the top if you are feeling fancy, or you just enjoy it as is!
Vegan London Fog / Earl Grey Tea Latte
Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup water
- 1 Earl Grey Tea bag
- 1 TBSP Vanilla Syrup
- 1/4 Cup Milk Substitute
Instructions
Brew tea according to the instructions on the packet.
Remove tea bag and add vanilla syrup
Heat and froth the milk. (if using a frother that doesn't heat the almond milk, microwave the almond milk for 15 seconds. If you don't have a frother, heat the milk for 15 seconds then shake the milk using a container with a lid for 30 seconds)
Add the frothed milk to the tea, stir, and enjoy!
