Y’all it is my FAVORITE time of year! There is a crispness in the air and I’m spending my Saturdays in Athens watching football! I love getting together with family and friends to share in football festivities. In my opinion, tailgating is the time to break our your yummiest recipes and there MUST be a grill involved. You could almost call it grill-gating. I am sharing one of my favorite recipes for the Grill-gate and it is my Touchdown Burger.
Thankfully wherever you watch your college football, there is a Walmart nearby where you can buy the necessary supplies! My must have list includes RITZ Crackers, Dr Pepper®, and Kingsford® Charcoal. Kingsford® Charcoal, RITZ and Dr Pepper are essential in throwing the perfect fall grill-gate gathering.

To make the touchdown burger you only need a few simple ingredients: ground beef, RITZ Crackers, Dr Pepper, mayonnaise, minced garlic, salt and pepper.
Start by placing the ground beef in a medium sized bowl.
Next, smash 12 RITZ Crackers in a plastic bag. Then add them to the ground beef.
Now it is time to add ⅛ cup of mayonnaise and 1 TB of minced garlic.
Now for the not so secret ingredient, add ⅛ cup of Dr Pepper!
Then add about 1tsp each of salt and pepper.
Combine all ingredients and form into patties.
Now it’s is time to get to the grill! We always prefer Kingsford® Charcoal!
The length of time you cook the burgers will depend on the size and thickness and also the heat of your charcoal. We use a meat thermometer and get the internal temperature to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
After they have finished cooking serve them with warm toasty buns and all of the yummy fixins’!
Since there are typically a lot of options when we are Grill-gating I like to cut each burger in half and serve that way. Most people would rather taste all of the options than fill up on a burger, but guests are always welcome to take two halfs if watching the football game makes them extra hungry!
