In the month and a half since I first started Moderately High Maintenance, I have had so many people ask me why I decided to start my blog. If you had asked me right at the beginning I would have answered the question differently than I would today. My original answer would have been: to share our daily life and experiences. Personally, I think we are pretty cool but why should you care and why should I bust my a$$ to write about it three times a week? My “why” has been evolving and I am sure it will continue to evolve. My ultimate goal is to add value to your life. Whether it's a recipe, thought about relationships, style guide, or story about our life, I want you to be able to take something away from each post.
One night last week my computer deleted my entire post for the next day. The thought of having to leave my house at six the next morning was at the front of my mind. The combination of the two really made me question my why. Why do I care? Why am I sacrificing sleep to get this post finished? This is not my full time job. No one is going to notice if this post doesn't go up tomorrow. I was really battling late night self doubt. As difficult as it may have been, I had to remember my “why”. I have committed to myself and to you that I will strive to contribute value and joy to your lives and my own through MHM.
This concept of knowing your “why” is not new and I most definitely did not come up with it. However, knowing my “why” has been extremely helpful in renewing my perseverance when difficulties arise. Whether it's a job where you aren't fulfilled, late night exhaustion with work still to be done, or someone in your life being difficult to love, remember your “why”. Are you there to bring change? Are you there to grow yourself? Are you there to spread positivity or be a light in that person's life? Whatever your “why” is, I hope you take the opportunity to embrace your calling and have a renewed sense of purpose.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life through Moderately High Maintenance. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read and be a part of this community. All of your messages and comments truly brighten my day!
