Summer is about effortless fun. It's the perfect time for friends by the pool, BBQ's, and NOT doing the dishes. One thing that I love about summer entertaining is that there is no expectation to be fancy whatsoever. Everyone is ready to soak up the sun, have some yummy beverages and munch on some easy to eat food. So here are 5 tips to throw an awesome summer party!
1. Decorate with Simplicity
Think bright colors and foods that do double duty as your decorations! This is not the time to break the bank or pull out your bougie dishes. Colorful paper plates or these awesome plastic plates that have the drink holders are some of my favorites!
One of my favorite summer party themes is fruits! Pineapples, limes, and lemons displayed while they are waiting to garnish drinks make for lively and useful decor!
2. Food
Food 100% makes any party! There are so many great options for a summer party. I love a great watermelon salad served with the watermelon as the bowl. For the watermelon salad, mix mint and feta with cut up or “balled” watermelon. It's festive, fun, and always a huge hit.
Pineapple and sausage skewers are delicious and EASY. Cut up your favorite heat and eat sausage and skewer with a cut piece of pineapple.
In my opinion, it isn't a party if you don't have chips, salsa, and most importantly guac. NEVER forget the guac. You can get creative and serve these in fun margarita glasses to add different levels to your tablescape!
3. Drinks
Have you noticed my fun, hassle-free entertaining theme here? Summer parties are the times to break out your RITAS Party Pack! I love these because there is a flavor for everyone: Lime-A-Rita, Straw-Ber-Rita, Mang-O-Rita, and now limited edition Pine-Apple-Rita. They are colorful, flavorful, and accompany the summer party theme perfectly. For those guests who prefer their RITAS in a glass, I set-up a station with all of the fixins like fruit garnishes and salt! For those who prefer the simplicity of a bottle, I set up a grab-n-go station so they can pick up their favorite RITAS flavor and get back to the party!
When you throw your summer party, don’t forget to take a picture with your Pine-Apple-Rita and post it on social media with the hashtag #ritascontest because RITAS is having a sweepstakes where you can win a trip to Hawaii!! You can find the official rules of the contest here.
4. Entertainment
Adding a few games in the mix is always fun! Frisby, cornhole or a dartboard for a little friendly competition! Cornhole and frisbys are always a favorite in our crowd.
5. Music
Don't forget to have a great mix of tunes playing! I typically put John in charge of the playlist because he takes pride in choosing something for every listener. It's always a mix of oldies, top 40, country, and of course party staples.
