A few of my friends and I have been wanting to get together to have a floral workshop for months! Originally, this idea was supposed to be Ashlee Nicole's birthday party with a brunch. Sadly schedules just got away from us and Ashlee Nicole is now delivering babies about three hours away, until… 2021. *Pause for a deep sigh* Even though we missed her terribly we decided to forge ahead with our planned day of floral fun.
When it comes to getting friends together my thought is that any excuse will do. Don't you agree? It doesn't have to be elaborate, it is so important just to set a date and get together. I highly recommend hosting some floral fun with your friends because a few hours with flowers, cold refreshments, and friendship just does the heart good.
This is the first week of summer, and in the words of my husband “Georgia is hot as balls.” I'm assuming he means balls of fire, but ya never know with him. Anyways, we decided to keep our little get together inside instead of braving the heat or the gnats.
A couple of days before our floral workshop I made a run down to our local wholesale florist and picked up some of my favorite flowers. I also ran to Walmart to pick up the various flower accouterments and refreshments. I decided to keep the refreshments simple and opted for Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccinos® (since Dulce de Leche is a new flavor) and my signature pound cake with fresh berries.
Side note: you know I am always about earning those Starbucks® rewards. Walmart is running an offer for when you Buy 3 Ready to Drink products at the store you get 35 stars! You can find out more about that here. The Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccino® is only available as a single 13.7 oz and I found it in the drink aisle at Walmart.
On the day of the floral fun, I set up our dining room with a crate in the middle of the table so that everyone could reach the flowers from their place around the table.
Before the ladies arrived, I set their stations around the table. I had a white apron, a large cloth, and flower scissors for everyone to take home with them. I tied everything together with a simple bow and plastic tags with gold metallic script.
I also had vessels for everyone to use, but you can easily have people BYOV.
Once everyone arrived, we shared a few laughs about how none of us had any idea what we were doing!
Then surprisingly, everyone found a florist hiding deep down inside!
Even Toulouse decided that he was down with floral fun!
After all the flowers were arranged, the refreshments consumed, and laughs enjoyed we all had beautiful arrangements to show for it!
I will always be a proponent of beating the heat by staying inside. #CraftYourCool
Special thanks to Mattie, Rizza, and Missy for your friendship and for joining me on your Sunday afternoon!
