There are a few things better than a girls night in with a great show! Our group of ladies gets together on Thursday nights and we rotate houses. I always enjoy going to my friend's houses, but I enjoy hosting equally as much. Despite the location, there are three key elements that are always the same and essential for the perfect watch party!
1. The Right Food
Our watch party is at 8 pm and most everyone has already had dinner so I like to keep it pretty light. All of this to say, cheese is always a good idea so a cheese plate is a must. If you need some direction Check out my tips for the perfect cheese plate here.
Next, a savory dip option is always a hit! One of my favorites is my Kickin’ Pimento Cheese. This one pairs perfectly with our next show because the main character is kickin' some tail.
I like to throw the sweet lovers a bone and y’all know you can’t come to my house without my Signature Pound Cake. Honestly, I really only bake one thing so y’all are going to be stuck with that one for awhile 🙂
2. Thirst Quenching Drinks
In my humble opinion, drinks are the easy part. Start with a red wine option and a white wine option. My thought is that I don’t like whiny people and I don’t like cheesy people, but I love me some wine and cheese people. (Did that make me cheesy? LOL)

It’s a weeknight and we aren’t in college anymore so I keep the hard stuff to a minimum, but who doesn’t love a good on theme cocktail? I opted for a Queen Pin Margarita, which is really just my classic margarita with a little peach nectar.
I also always have bottled water and coffee available for everyone. So whatever you are into, there are always options in the drink department!
3. The Perfect Show
Our ladies group has watched anything from comedies to dramas and everything in between. Next, we are looking forward to starting a new show called Queen of the South. Season two just started on June 8th, but that just means you can binge on Season one on Netflix right after you finish reading this post!
If you are caught up on season one, then you will love season two. Season two of Queen of the South will shift its focus from highlighting Teresa’s survival instincts to showcasing her growth in the cartel underworld. Viewers will get to see Teresa come into her own as she starts to recognize her power and potential. As Teresa learns what it takes to become the Queenpin however, she slowly realizes that ambition comes with a heavy price. Loyalties are tested, love becomes a vulnerability and moral compromises have to be made. Critical to Teresa’s rise will be Camila Vargas, serving as both a mentor and a formidable foe standing in her way as she struggles to reach the throne. By the end of the season, viewers will come to recognize that “there can only be one queen.
