Recently someone asked me the icebreaker question about what single item I would want if I were stranded on a deserted Island. As inspired as I am by the daring folks on Naked and Afraid, I never see myself signing up for such a challenge. Despite the ridiculous nature of the question, it really made me think about the things I use everyday.
1. French Press Coffee Maker
John is very much a coffee snob. This can be good and bad depending on who makes the coffee. One thing that we can agree on when it comes to coffee making is our French press. Coffee that is made in the French press always comes out with a silky smooth flavor and finish. Our French press is the perfect size for when it's just the two of us drinking our morning cups.
2 .Kindle Paperwhite
I absolutely LOVE my Kindle Paperwhite everyday, but especially when I am traveling because it doesn't take up a lot of space. There are fancier versions of the Kindle, but I don't want the fancier one with access to internet browsing and social media. When I break out my Paperwhite the sole intention is uninterrupted reading time. The no glare screen is perfect for reading in bright sunlight at the beach. Half of my friends are Paperwhite converts just from beach excursions with me. The other huge plus is that Paperwhite does not have any of those blue light wavelengths so it doesn't keep me up when I read before bed every night.
3. Bose SoundTrue Ultra Earbuds
John may be a coffee snob, but I am most definitely an earbud snob. I purchased my first pair of Bose earbuds in my first year of college and have since never been without. These come with multiple sizes of the ear pieces so they fit comfortably in anyone's ears. The sound quality is unparalleled with all of the depth you would expect from Bose. I do not have the noise canceling buds, but I don't really find them necessary because these fit so snuggly in my ears I can't hear anything anyways. They have built in phone and music controls so I can control Siri and my music without ever pulling out my phone. I use these during my workday so I do not constantly have to hold my phone up to my ear. I also use these earbuds during my daily walk to listen to music.
4. Asana
Asana is the free project management software I use to keep track of my personal goals and tasks as well as my Moderately High Maintenance blog editorial calendar. What I love about Asana is that it is free. You can add up to fifteen members of your team to a project for free and collaborate with real time updates. It is very robust yet intuitive to use. You can create tasks, create subtasks within a task, and tag/categorize to your hearts content. Asana is the type A person's dream and what every type B-Z should be using to keep their life in order.
5. Clarisonic
Last but not least is my Clarisonic Mia 2. I wear makeup most days when I go to work and my Clarisonic is what keeps my face exfoliated and skin bright. Clarisonic removes six times more makeup than manual cleansing, cleansing so well that products absorb better -making skin more receptive to my serum and moisturizer. I can without a doubt say that adding the Clarisonic to my everday skincare routine is the best thing I have done for my skin.
